How’s life?

Tag,

Life has been busy lately at work. Our company business has been slow lately. Business is not picking up and a lot of staff have resigned and left the company. There is no replacement for those that have left. So those that are still loyal to the company have to bear more work load. Well that’s life unless one can get out of the rat race :-(

Self coaching to motivate myself

Tag, , , , , ,

I have been very busy lately and it is hard to keep myself motivated to pursue my dream to work from home. When I am too busy with my work at the office, I tend to forget my dream.

The only thing in my mind is to get my work done. My dream is tucked away in a little corner of my mind.

I have watched The Secret movie and I can say to achieve my dream, I must believe that I have achieved it and let it play in my mind over and over again. That is the law of attraction. Beside that I think I must have a self coaching session for myself.  In this self coaching session, I must have my goals clearly written down, develop my strategies, overcome my obstacles and on top of it all, the way to celebrate my achievement along the way.

With regular self coaching , I believe I can condition my mind to think positively and every little achievement should be celebrated to keep myself going. Well I think that’s the way to go to achieve my dreams of working from home.

Working from home

Tag, ,

It has been my dream to work from home. Days come and go but my dream is still elusive.

I realized that been a part time blogger is not easy. As I mentioned in my earlier post titled “Diary of a part time blogger”, it is difficult to allocate time for blogging due to family and work commitment. That explains the long absence since my last post :-)

But still not giving up my dream, I still find time to catch up with the latest news on the net. If you are like me, you may have come across the name Ewen Chia, the work from home guy. Ewen Chia has been marketing online since 1997 and is considered one of the biggest internet marketing experts today. He hated job and he was in deep credit cards debt but he escaped them all. He has gone through the ups and downs of internet marketing and now he wants to help people like me and you to make it on the internet. He doesn’t promise to make you a millionaire in a week but he will show you how to make big cash in just 30 days in his step by step guide through his latest report called Working from home: 3 quick and easy ways to make money from home on the internet”

I have downloaded the report and I can say it is fantastic. It is available at Ewen Chia’s Working From Home. Download it and see for yourself. You are the best judge. Wish you success.

Diary of a part time blogger

Tag, ,

It is not easy being a part time blogger especially if you are new to blogging.

I have gone through it and realised that it is not as easy as I thought. Time management is crucial because as a part timer, you don’t have the luxury to be in front of your computer the whole day. You have to juggle between your full time job and blogging. Your full time job will demand at least 12 hours of your time including time spent travelling to and fro work. By the time you reach home you may be too tired to sit down in front of your computer and if you can find time to do so, you may not have any idea of what topic to write about. This maybe worse if you are a family man with young children to look after.

My day starts at 6.30am in the morning when my little 1 year old boy wakes up. Then it is getting ready to go to work and to reach the office by 9.00am. Leaving office at 6.00pm, reaching home after dinner and picking up my children at 8.45pm. By the time getting the children to settle down to bed, it is already 10.30pm. By that time I am too tired to even switch on my computer. I have tried to work on my blog after the children have gone to bed and work late into the night but it has affected my health due to lack of sleep.

Guess I have to learn time management if I want to succeed in this blogging business. If you are blogging part time and facing the similar challenges or otherwise, do feel free to drop in a comment or two.

Long break

Tag, ,

It has been a long time since my last post. It was tough year end for me. I ended the year end busy with my work, working over the weekenes too as my colleague cleared her leave for the year 2007. As a result, I fell sick and was hospitalised for a week. What a way to spend my new year celebration. I celebrated 1st January 2008 alone in the hospital. (On a lighter note, not that bad as pretty nurses took turn to visit me and food was delivered right to my bed :-))

Since then, it was a long road to recovery and a lot more work piling up in the office waiting for me to attend to after a long while away from office. I was even more busy than before I was hospitalised. What a beginning to a new year. Hope things will be better soon.

Google fear factor

Tag, ,

Google has done it again recently and this time it seems that PPP bloggers are the hardest hit.

Many PPP blogs have their PageRank reduced to zero. Has Google created the fear factor in us? It may for some but not for all.

I have dedicated this blog for paid blogging. I have the disclosure on my blog and am now waiting for my blog to turn 90 days old so that I can registered with Pay Per Post. They have turned me down once because my blog has not fully grown up yet. Whether I have been penalised by Google for dedicating this blog for Pay Per Post, I can’t tell. My blog is two months old now but since it was not approved by Pay Per Post, I do not have any paid posts on my blog yet. But despite all my effort to boost up my PR, it just did not seem to move at all. It remained at zero from day one until now even though my Alexa ranking has improved quite a bit. My two other blogs which were quite as new has a PR1 each. Did this blog suffered from the Google slap? I guess it did.

No matter how, I was determined not to let the Google fear factor destroy my objectives for this blog. Advertisers for paid posts do consider PR as a criteria for selecting the posties. With a PR0, I may not even get an offer. Well I will worry about that when my blog gets its approval from Pay Per Post. I have to be patient for another month before I can re-submit my application.

It is good that Izea (Pay Per Post’s new identity) is coming up with its own PR called RealRanker. If PPP is going to drop Google’s PR from its criteria list and use their own RealRanker, then who cares about Google’s PR0? I don’t even care if it is a negative. But having said that, how reliable is RealRanker in its PR? This is yet to be seen. RealRanker gives a 7 for this blog. But my other blog which has a Google’s PR1 is given a PR1 by RealRanker. Obviously my other blog has more traffic, page views and inbound links, but it beats me why RealRanker ranks it lower. All being said, it is for you to judge whether RealRanker is accurate in its ranking.

Comments are welcome.

Quitting the day job

Tag,

It has been my dream of able to quit my day job one day. But quitting the day job

is not easy unless you have something to fall back on. Even if you have another stream of income flowing into your life, quitting does not come just at the snap of a finger. There are a lot of factors that need to be considered. It is not an easy decision to make. Do not make decision when you are at the height of your emotional roller coastal. Emotional decision may not be a good decision and most people will regret it later in their life.

JD has penned down his experience in his blog Get Rich Slowly which I believe will help a lot of people who dream of quitting the day job. He expressed his honest feeling, the fear and anxities as well as his excitement of quitting his day job to go full time working on his sites. He built his sites on a natural progress and it came to a day when the sites demanded more of his time and he decided to go full force in building them. No doubt there were fears of trading the certainty for the uncertain future. But he was prepared for the worst case scenario just in case and he has a plan well laid out.

I have learned a lot from him and I am building my blog slowly and hopefully like him getting rich slowly and quit my day job one day in the future.

Rejected by Pay Per Post

Tag,

Received an email from Pay Per Post a few days ago. Not a good one though. I was informed that my application to submit my blog to Pay Per Post was rejected. Reason being that my blog was too young to participate in their marketplace. They have a condition that a new blog submitted for approval must be at least 90 days old counting from the first post.

Well, guess I will just have to wait and be patient. In the mean time, I will continue to write to build up my blog and admiring other bloggers’ earnings. My turn will come when I can participate. I felt just like a baby learning how to crawl and can’t wait to be able to walk on my own. That is frustrating! :-( A new blog does not mean that it is inferior compared to older blogs. It can be just as good if not better. But rules are rules and guess they are to be followed. So got to wait until my blog grows older. But then again, aren’t rules meant to be broken? ;-)

Information overload

Tag, ,

If you are the same as me, a newbie in the blogosphere,

trying to grasp as much information as you can in the shortest time possible and to apply what you learn to make your blog rank well, but unfortunately there are just too much information out there. And trying to master all of them is just impossible and you ended up more confused than ever. There are just so much things to do and you find that time is just so short when you are deep in your learning curve.

I have downloaded so many e-books packed with information but I just couldn’t find time to read them all. I found myself reading an article and before long, I realised that I have clicked on so many interesting links within the article itself leading me out of the original article that I was reading. And because of that, I have side tracked so much until I can’t even trace back to the original article that I was reading. Lost in the cyberworld I would say.

So my advice to those of you who are in the same position as me, stick to what you want to learn. When you read an article, finish reading the article once through before you start clicking on any text links within the article that you are reading. This will ensure that you understand the article and learn from it before you explore other text links which may lead you to other topics of interest. As such you may not get yourself confused trying to learn too many topics at any one time.

I would strongly suggest that you get yourself a good book or e-book on the topic that you are keen on learning and stick to it until you have finished the book before you start another book. Read chapter by chapter and digest it well. By doing this, you will find that you can progress at a speed that will get you somewhere rather than trying to cramp everything in the shortest time possible. Give yourself a time frame to learn new things and set an achievable and realistic goal and ensure that the time frame is not too short. As the saying goes, the more haste the less speed. Go at the speed that you are comfortable with and you should get there in no time. Hope to see you when I reach the top slow and steady.

By the way, this blog is the result of me reading the e-book Wordpress Adsense System. I dropped everything and concentrated just on this e-book and got this blog up within a week. After that, I read more and learn more and applied it on my blog. Well, this is not the end result yet. More improvement will be on the way as I read and learn more.
